Connectivity Problems

Once the device is on, you can't connect to the internet.

Loose antenna or cracked casing

  • If you are experiencing spotty coverage or see a sudden drop in the quality of your connection, the antenna may be loose or damaged.
  • Most damage should be easily seen from the outside, indicating that this is a problem with the antenna.
  • You will want to look at our guide, BRCK v1 Antenna Replacement, to see how to remove and replace the antenna.
  • You may be able to just tighten the antenna and not have to replace it, but if symptoms continue, a replacement may be in order.

Won't hold a charge

The battery is dying significantly faster than it is used to.

Damaged or exhausted battery

  • Extended use or bad charging habits may have an effect on the lifespan of the battery.
  • If it seems to be dying quicker than it did when you first started using the device and it is affecting it's performance, then you may want to replace the battery.
  • Visit the repair guide, BRCK v1 Battery Replacement, which will show you how to get to the battery and take it out.

Failure to connect to Network

Antenna is operational, but you still can't connect to the network. This indicates an internal problem, possibly with the modem.

Damaged modem

  • If your antenna appears to be in working order, but you are still having trouble connecting to the network, the problem may be the modem.
  • The modem is the internal drive that processes the signal received by the antenna. If it is damaged, it can affect your connection.
  • Once you open up the cover, the modem is right underneath. If any part of it looks ajar, you may be able to solve your problem by reconnecting the piece.
  • You will want to visit our guide, BRCK v1 Modem Replacement, to be able to remove and replace the modem.

Upgrading SIM card

  • If you want to upgrade your SIM card from the stock 4gb to an 8gb card, you can also see how to do that in the modem repair guide.
  • You can see our guide, BRCK v1 Modem MicroSD Card Replacement, to see how to remove the modem SIM card and replace it.

Broken band under Modem

If the ribbon connector between the modem and the motherboard was damaged while the device is being taken apart, you will have to replace the piece.

Snapped or bent ribbon connector

  • There is a chance that you will damage the ribbon connector while you are moving the modem around.
  • Your device won't work without this connection, and if it is damaged or connected improperly you will need to fix the problem before you continue.
  • Look at our repair guide, BRCK v1 Modem Ribbon Connector Replacement, to find how to correctly connect or replace the ribbon cable.

Device won't turn on

If the device is charged but will not turn on, then you should check the connection between the battery and the motherboard first. If you know that the device was dropped in water or damaged recently, you may need to replace the motherboard.

Dies suddenly while in use

  • If the device turns on, but suddenly shuts itself off while in use, there may be a problem with the connection from the battery to the motherboard.
  • You can see the battery connection here, [link de guia inválido], and see how to fix the connection problems.

Water damaged motherboard

  • If you drop your BRCK in water and the electronics are damaged, you may need to replace the motherboard all together.
  • This is seen in our guide, BRCK v1 Motherboard Replacement. Follow these steps to disconnect all of the components from the motherboard and take it out of the casing.
