Blinking Power Light

Power light is blinking and your laptop may shut down when it is unplugged.

Too Much Static

Too much static in your machine can cause malfunctions in the hardware. To solve this, you will need to complete a static discharge on your device. Power down, unplug the device and remove the battery, and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.

DC Jack Broken

One of the connections for the DC jack may be snapped off, causing intermittent or no contact. The fix this, the laptop will need to be taken apart so you can solder the connection back together.

Laptop Not Booting Up

Laptop is unresponsive when attempting to start up.

Check Battery Connection and Charge

If the computer is unresponsive and not turning on, check to make sure your battery is connected properly to your laptop and that it has enough charge to turn the laptop on. If it isn’t charged, connect the power adapter to a working outlet in order to charge it.

Faulty Power Adapter

Check that the power source you’re using for the power adapter is functioning properly. If it is, and the indicator light on your power adapter is not illuminated, it is likely that your adapter needs to be replaced.

Faulty Battery

If your laptop only turns on and works while your power adapter is plugged in, it is likely your battery is faulty and needs to be replaced. Check to see if your battery is replaceable under warranty through Acer, and if it isn’t purchase a new battery and replace using our Battery Replacement Guide.

Faulty Motherboard

If your new working battery is installed or the power adapter is plugged into your laptop and the device still will not turn on, it is likely a motherboard issue.

Unresponsive Keyboard

Keyboard will not produce output when user is typing.

Outdated Drivers

It is possible that you simply need to update your driver. Try installing an updated driver for it from the Support section of the Acer website.

Faulty Keyboard

Your laptop isn’t responding when using the keyboard. This is likely a hardware malfunction or a user error caused from spilling on or dropping your keyboard. To replace your keyboard, follow our Keyboard Replacement Guide.

Inability to Connect to WiFi

Laptop may not find wifi networks or connect to found networks.

Network Problems

Check and make sure your wireless network is successfully connecting to other devices such as your cellphone. If your other devices aren't connecting check your wireless connection. You can do this by right clicking on the wireless network icon on the bottom right of your screen and clicking "Troubleshoot Problems." It's possible your wireless network isn't connecting because there are no networks available or there is an issue with your router. If troublehshooting doesn't solve the connection issue, try unplugging your router for one minute, leaving it unplugged for one minute and then plugging it back in. If connection doesn't resume, try calling your internet provider.

Wireless Function Disabled

Check to make sure that your laptop's wireless function is not disabled by clicking "Fn" and "F3" on your keyboard at the same time. If that method doesn't work you can also click Start, type "Network and Sharing Center" in the "Search programs and files" search bar, and hit Enter. Then click "Change adapter settings" in the left margin of the window. Then right-click the connection icon and select "Enable."

Outdated Wireless Drivers

If you are confident that the wireless network in your home is working and the device is WiFi enabled, check your Acer wireless drivers. Use the Drivers Update Tool to automatically update all the Drivers for you. Since this will require internet connection, use wired connection via an ethernet cable.

Screen Keeps Turning Black or Gets Pink and Blue Lines

The laptop screen keeps turning black and may get pink and blue lines across it when the screen isn’t black.

Update Drivers

Make sure your drivers are up to date. Go to Display > Device Manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation points. If there are, update the drivers.

Faulty Ribbon Cable

Hook your laptop up to an external monitor. If you do not see an image on the monitor, then you might have a graphics card problem. If you can see an image on the monitor, your ribbon cable may be faulty.

Replace Graphics Card

If you can’t see anything on an external monitor, your graphics card is bad and may need replacing. You will either need to send it in to a manufacturer or replace the motherboard, as they are integrated.

==Optical Drive Will Not Eject Disk==

The optical drive will not eject the disk inside.

===Software Malfunction===

If your optical drive refuses to eject the disk, your software might not be running properly. Shut down the computer and let it sit for a minute or two before turning it back on. Then try to eject the disk.

===Hardware Malfunction===

If restarting your system does not work, the optical drive itself is likely not working and needs to be replaced. To get it out and rescue your disk, follow the Optical Drive Guide.

==Laptop Boots Up Too Slow==

Laptop takes a significantly longer time than it used to to start up.

===Add More RAM===

Adding more RAM can improve your laptop's boot-up time greatly. This will also let it run more programs at the same time. To add more RAM, follow the Memory Replacement Guide.

My Aspire 5750 appears to be working normally, but even when shut down properly there is a blinking red light on the front left edge of the device. Should I be worried about this?  Is so, how do I fix the problem?  My email address is: rwal.gray@gmail.com.
