Hello, my name is Ava Martinez, I am a Mechanical Engineering major at Cuesta College. I chose this major because I have always enjoyed knowing how things operate, and putting stuff back together. I am currently applying to transfer Fall 2025 to a university.

Something that I recently helped build was this five foot volcano. Some of the other club officers and I spent a couple weeks on this project before the start of the school semester, so that we could explode it on the first week of school for club recruitment. I am currently president of the Cuesta STEM Club, where we do lots of cool experiments, and some creative building challenges as well.

My goal is to be an engineer for NASA working on rovers. It has been a dream of mine to work for NASA for as long as I can remember. I have always been fascinated by space, and I would like to be an important part of exploring the unknown. Something that I would love to learn how to fix is a piano. (Tuning it) I am a classically trained pianist, and it would be great to know how to do this, as I have played on a lot of out of tune pianos before.

I am currently a tutor for multiple physics classes, as well as engineering statics, and circuit analysis. I believe my strong knowledge in these fields will help me with this project. After working in the hospitality industry for over 5 years, I have also developed great communication and time management skills, which will help me greatly for the project.
