Background and Identification
The original MacBook Pro 15” Retina Display laptop, released in 2012, introduced a new display that had a 2880 x 1800 pixel screen resolution. Most 15" Retina models feature two graphics cards where both are powerful enough to utilize the high-resolution display. The name “Retina” comes from how, in Retina displays, the pixels are indistinguishable at a normal viewing distance by the viewer’s retina.
MacBook Pro 15” Retina Display laptops originally had two USB 3 ports, an SDXC card slot, two ThunderBolt ports, and an HDMI port. The number and type of points in the MacBook Pro 15” Retina Display have shifted over time. For instance, the MacBook Pro 15” Touch Bar 2019 laptop includes four USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) ports and a headphone audio jack, but it doesn’t have any traditional USB 3 ports or an HDMI port. This results in added simplicity or added inconvenience, depending on your viewpoint.
MacBook Pro 15” Retina Display laptops have 15” fold-down, Retina displays, a keyboard, and a trackpad. They are black and silver in color and have the word “MacBook Pro” printed on the front center of the device, just below the screen. The Apple logo is also printed on the back of the laptop, in true Apple fashion.
