Putting car in reverse brings up safety guides but no camera image, just black.
I've tried everything (except the right thing) - may be the wiring of the camera cable or bypass cable? The green wires do get a little confusing. I've read every post of the same problem in other vehicles.

Just double checking.
Have you verified that there's power getting to the rearview camera when reverse gear is selected?
Here's the wiring diagram and connector pinout for the rearview camera for your vehicle. Presumably you have an aftermarket head unit installed but the camera end would be the same, so you may have to check each of the wires from end to end between the camera connector and the headunit connection to make sure that they're connected correctly.
If the wiring is correct and if there is power available, then perhaps the camera module is faulty. If the module is faulty, according to this link the part number is 39530-T7A-003 but you may wish to verify this. If it is, search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Blond moment- I went over the 25 connectsi had to make d found I had forgotten to connect a tiny plastic clip from the maestro harness to the car harness. Rookie mistake.
