Wet - turns on but screen will not work!

I realize this question was already asked, but did not see any viable answer - so, here it is. Daughter's iPod touch was in my bag and water leaked on it - would turn on, and her "screen saver" pic is on there, but the touch screen will not work. I have read that other people have replaced the screen but their iPods still do not work. Should I just try to replace the screen and then see what happens? Thanks!

I had an "aftershave" dunked ipod..smells really lovely! but nevermind that..the screen acted like a ginormous sponge, literally dripping a week later. (still smells nice) All nicely cleaned like OT3 says.. LCD replaced, all working. Unless you clean and try again you won't know what will or won't work.(clean is cheaper than a screen or a new ipod)

mmsc123002 The first thing I would suggest is to clean the iPod using this guide I do strongly recommend to exchange the battery. In the long run it will prevent trouble with corrosion etc. After that, reevaluate the damage. You may still have to replace the digitizer, but you can at least narrow it down. Good Luck.

I would say that your iPod touch is toast. i have never seen a iPod touch or iPhone with no touch response because of water damage start working again. But that is my experience, and could be biased cause of my lack of faith in being able to fix this problem (i usually give up if the iPod is not recognizing touch at all) if any one disagrees please correct me.

I do Ryan. Having personally revived at least 1/2 dozen of iPod/iPhone, I am actually pretty confident that they can be fixed, and one should at least try. Do a search on here and check for water/liquid damaged ianything and you'd be surprised. Yes, sometimes its tricky and sometimes it fails, but still better than to just say it ain't working....;-)

I'm agreeing with OT...never say dead. especially if everything else works.. on iphones 9/10 it's corrosion on the connection..clean it up or replace the connection. Not so experienced with the ipod touch but on principle I'd check all connections etc before RIP
