The monitor on my laptop doesn’t show anything, and I know the computer is turned on.

Make sure that the device is fully charged and powered on correctly.

You want to make sure the display has not been accidentally disabled. To do this, press the “Fn” key in the lower corner of the keyboard and then press “F2.”

If the above step does not resolve the issue, repeat the action again while holding down the Windows key and pressing “P” twice. There is a chance the display is in projector mode. Once you follow this step it will convert the display back to “Computer Only.”

When using laptop, the laptop is too hot and shuts down without warning.

It’s possible for a device to overheat from dust in the vent or fan. Using a compressed air duster and effectively getting rid of the dust can solve this issue.

If fan does not function properly after thorough cleaning, the fan may need to be replaced .

Laptop battery doesn’t last as long as it used to.

Plugging the adapter into an outlet should result in a charge light, which indicates its functionality and ability to charge. If the power adapter light is on when it’s plugged into the laptop, the adapter is not responsible for the short battery life.

The length of the charge should reflect the amount of time that the laptop is connected to the power adapter, so a disparity between charging time and battery life may indicate that your laptop needs a new battery.

Files that used to be on laptop are no longer there.

It is possible your hard drive is not functioning properly and is causing data loss. In order to restore functionality to your laptop, you may need to replace the hard drive.

Check to make sure that no files were accidentally deleted and sent to the recycling bin. If the files are in the recycling bin, right click and click on “restore” to bring them back to where they were originally.

The keyboard on your laptop doesn't input the correct keys on command.

Many laptops will convert the keyboard into a number pad if NumLock is enabled. Press NumLock or Fn+NumLock to make sure that it is disabled. The NumLock key will typically have a light that signifies whether it is enabled or not that. On most devices, this will be located above the NumLock key.

If you have more than one keyboard layout installed, make sure that the correct layout is selected.

Debris might be obstructing the keys, so cleaning beneath keys may yield a solution.

If none of the previous methods work for you, the keyboard itself could have a malfunction. Disconnect your wireless or USB keyboard, then try using a new one. You may want to use a different port as well.
