The GoPro will not turn on

You are unable to turn on the GoPro or access any functions.

The SD card is faulty

A faulty SD card can cause the GoPro not to turn on. Try removing the SD card and resetting the GoPro by removing and reinserting the battery.

The battery is dead or damaged

A dead battery will cause the GoPro not to turn on. Try charging the GoPro to start. If it still won't turn on, try swapping the battery with a working and fully charged battery. See the battery replacement guide.

The battery housing is faulty

If the GoPro will not turn on with a fully functional battery, the battery housing may be faulty due to a bad connection. In that case, the battery housing may need to be replaced. See the battery housing replacement guide.

The motherboard is faulty

If the GoPro refuses to turn on, the motherboard may be fried. In that case, you may need to replace the motherboard. See the motherboard replacement guide.

The camera freezes up

When trying to use the camera, the GoPro is frozen on a single image, the buttons are unresponsive, and you are unable to perform any actions.

The camera needs to be reset

The camera may just be frozen. Try resetting the GoPro by removing and reinserting the battery. Make sure the battery is charged.

The SD card is wrong

If your GoPro keeps freezing up, you may have the wrong SD card inserted. Check, GoPro's instruction guides to see if that is the case.

The motherboard is faulty

If the GoPro will not turn on after the camera is reset with a fully charged battery, the motherboard may need to be replaced. See the motherboard replacement guide.

The LCD screen is not responding

When trying use the GoPro, the touch screen is unresponsive and you are unable to access the menu or perform any actions.

The LCD screen is faulty

If the LCD screen is not responding but the front screen is still working, the LCD screen may need to be replaced. However, since the LCD screen cannot be removed from the back housing, the back housing may need to be replaced. See the back housing replacement guide.

The connection between the motherboard and screen is severed

GoPros are sometimes used in harsh physical conditions. Hard bumps and shakes while using the GoPro may have caused the connection between the motherboard and screen to be severed. In that case, the only way to know for sure is to open the GoPro and check for connections.

The camera footage has poor quality

Photos and videos produced by the GoPro are blurry and distorted.

The camera housing has condensation or is scratched

Condensation or scratches on the lens cover will cause the recording to come out blurry. You may need to clean or replace the lens cover by twisting and removing it.

The camera lens is faulty

Cracks or scratches on the lens will cause photos and videos to be distorted. Inspect the lens for damage. If there are scratches or cracks, you may need to replace the lens. See the lens assembly replacement guide.

The camera sensor is faulty

If there is no visible damage to the camera housing or lens, the camera sensor may be faulty. In this case, the sensor may need to be replaced. See the lens assembly replacement guide.

My gopro hero5 black has a snowy screen image after taking a video for playback but doesnt play at all although it shows a certain amount of runtime. Camera freezes after taking the video. After removing the battery and incerting it again it works but that video cant be viewed and only has a static/sniwy screen.

I recently tried to update my camera. the update was taking unusually long(more than 2 hours). I go to bed and wake up the next morning my camera was off, and the battery was dead. I plug it in to the wall and get nothing. I leave in there for half and hour and I come back and the camera is hot to the touch. I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. I searched online and tried every thing I could find and still nothing. I talked to go pro support and they cant do anything for me. has any one had similar issue or possible solutions?

My GoPro Hero 5’s back screen doesn’t light up although front screen LCD works. All solutions on the net were tried. But they don’t seem to work.

My GoPro hero 5 black stopped working, nothing turns on.

I have it a part.

I noticed what looked like water damage on the USB C port.

I connected the camera together with out the two ports and did not come on.

Must the two USB ports be in the circuit for the camera to work?

thanks

Hello. My Gopro Hero 5 Black Screen Was Locked. I didn't know what to do at first, so I saw a video telling me to do a Factory Reset on it. When I did, I realized that now I can't choose the language on my screen. It's basically stuck. This is very bad, I have a trip coming up very soon. I need help!
