Hi my name is Sam Franklin. I'm a student at Cuesta College and recently switched into Engineering.
I'm a musician by trade and only just started to take an interest in Engineering taking STEM courses at Cuesta. It's a different use of my brain and I find it really challenging and enjoyable. I hope to go on to Cal Poly to pursue a master's degree in Environmental Engineering ( I already have a bachelor's in music so I have to make the jump straight into the grad program).
I've also been a landscaper for over 10 years. It was a job I worked part time back when I was in college for music and here I am back in school and still a landscaper. I'm not well versed in a variety of repair jobs but I've definitely fixed my fair share of broken irrigation. A majority of the jobs we do involve installing drought tolerant and sustainable landscapes so that's where my interest in environmental engineering comes from. I hope with that education I can have a stronger impact on protecting the environment while also feeling more challenged and engaged.
My hobbies include:
- watching soccer (Liverpool FC)
- hiking/exercising
- reading
- doing my physics homework
- I also gig a lot but I get paid to do that so it's not quite a hobby, and yet not quite a livelihood.
