What is the audio like when listening through headphones connected to the laptop?

If it sounds OK it may not be the speakers but something else.

Don't know the laptop but can you try adjusting the audio balance in the sound settings to determine if the problem is with the left speaker or right speaker only?

Important: Ensure that you disconnect the battery from the motherboard, as soon as possible after the back cover has been removed and before commencing any further work inside the laptop. Doing this prevents any chance of electrical damage to the internal components occurring whilst doing the repair. Mechanical or ESD damage to the components is another matter of course. Reconnect the battery last thing before closing the laptop for the last time.
