reprogramming sharp er a410

Hi

I recently bought a Sharp er-a410 cash. it beeps continually when I turn it on ad have to unplug to stop it. The journal says Program Reset How do I do reset it to factory settings. thanks for any help

@natures42 quite the machine :-) Looks like you need a Master Reset. A PROGRAM RESET initializes the program without clearing memory.

A MASTER RESET clears the entire memory and resumes initial values

There are 2 kinds of MASTER RESET operations

MASTER RESET 1: Normal MASTER RESET

Clears the entire memory and resumes initial values.

MASTER RESET 2: Enables the layout of the fixed keys in addition to performing a MASTER RESET 1.

Fixed keys: [0] [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [00] [000] [.] [CL] [@/FOR] [SBTL] [CA/AT]

1. RESET PROCEDURES

MASTER RESET 1

Please use “Procedure A” or “Procedure B”

Procedure A: 1) Set the mode switch to the (SRV’) position.

2) Plug the AC power cord into the wall outlet.

3) While holding down the JOURNAL FEED key, turn the mode switch to (SRV) position from the (SRV’) position.

Procedure B: 1) Unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet.

2) Set the mode switch to the (SRV) position.

3) While holding down the JOURNAL FEED key, plug in the AC cord to the wall outlet.

Note: Procedure B cannot reset the hardware.

Procedure A must be used to reset the hardware.

MASTER RESET 2

Please use “Procedure A” or “Procedure B”

Procedure A: 1) Set the mode switch to the (SRV’) position.

2) Plug in the AC power cord into the wall outlet.

3) While holding down the JOURNAL FEED key & the RECEIPT FEED key, turn the mode switch to (SRV) position from (SRV’) position.

4) Program the [0] [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [00] [000] [.] [CL] [@/FOR] [SBTL] [CA/AT] keys by depressing the desired keys in this order.

Note: If the [000] key is not required, press the same key at the next step, and the [000] key will be inhibited.

Procedure B: 1) Unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet.

2) Set the mode switch to the (SRV) position.

3) While holding down the JOURNAL FEED key & the RECEIPT FEED key, plug the AC power cord into the wall outlet.

4) Repeat the same sequence as in “Procedure A”

Note: Procedure B cannot reset the hardware.

Procedure A must be used to reset the hardware.

Thanks for the information. I read something like this but I can't find the SRV Position. It is not marked and the key will only turn to the positions marked. An older Sharp I had a position at 6 o'clock not marked but key would goo there.

@natures42 tried the PGM positions? Just read in the manual that "The SRV key is used for SRV mode operations."

Yes I tried first with one then again with the other, no luck

I figured out where the SRV mode is. I had the key from my old Sharp register that would allow me to go past PRGM2 position and SRV is at the 5 oclock position. I was able to do a Master Reset. Now I have to figure out how to program it. I have the manual so it will be fun, I am not that good at computers. :-) Many thanks for your help

Have an older model Sharp ER-A410. Has 15 dept keys. 5 of the larger keys and 10 dept on the smaller keys. I would like to change programed dept names. I understand each key has a designated letter assigned to it. Could use a little guidance. Thanks for your assistance, it’s appreciated Mike Fee.
