Hi,

Short answer is yes it will.

Any water that is being supplied to the premises by the local water authority, will pass through the water meter for the premises. The meter registers the water usage and the total amount of water used in the premises is calculated every month, 2 months, 6 months etc depending on how often you’re billed.

It may not be much in cost, depending on how much you pay per kilo Litre (or per 1000 x gallon) but it does add up if not fixed.

Besides which a leaking tap, washing machine etc is wasting water unnecessarily.

Contact your local water authority and get them to check.

Based on that the meter hasn't moved, either the meter reader got it wrong or perhaps because the meter hasn't moved the water authority is using past meter reading information to average what is usually being used for 3 months and then used that to charge you.

Of course it could just be a clerical error as well.

This is assuming that there isn't also another water meter for the property.
