Why does my game keep freezing?

Greetings everyone! So, when I play Rainbow 6 Siege, my pc frrezes I have task manager open on my second monitor, and when the game freezes, my CPU usage goes down to .3%. It is frozen for about 15-20 seconds, then when I get back, it says that I have around 3000 ping? Is my CPU problem or a problem with my wifi driver? I also tried using different ram, but it didnt help.

Ryzen 5 1600

16gb ddr4 ram

Gtx 1660

Try to list out more specs on your computer, e.g. power supply, storage, etc

suggest you to upgrade the graphic card drivers and see how.

how about other application or games?

does it happens also?

I Have an EVGA 450BT, I have the game on a 256gb SSD, other games that are on the ssd, don't freeze. I have tried upgrading the graphics card, but it didnt help. My motherboard is a MSI b450m Gaming plus.

Could it be a r6s server issue? I dont play that game, so idk what or if the servers are bad.

Is there anything showing up in Event Viewer (critical, error or warning events) at about the same time that the system freezes?

Just curious, what is the desktop's PSU rated wattage output? The specs for the GPU card say minimum PSU requirement is 450W

Note the time when the screen freezes and then look in Event Viewer for any of the above mentioned events, (don't worry about information, audit success or audit failure) and then click (double click?) on the event if any shown at that time to find out more. Then go online and search for the Event ID and Source to find out what it means and why it might be happening.

The GPU card recommended "minimum"power requirement is at the very top limit of the PSU, which is always undesirable with a power supply. You want a bit of a buffer between what the PSU can deliver and what may be needed.

It would be good if you could say temporarily swap in a 600W PSU and then check what happens

ok! I was thinking about getting a 500w modular psu, should i get the 600w version instead?

500W is ~10% more than minimum and there may be more things connected to the motherboard that would have to be taken into consideration as well.

Use this PSU calculator to work out what the PC as configured now (and maybe later if expanded) would most likely need and then base your decision on what is recommended and what you can afford

@jayeff i got a 600W power supply, and it doesnt seem to fix the problem, i cannot see anything in event viewer that pertains to the issue

I'm wondering if there is a bottleneck on the mobo with the chipset or maybe the BIOS and chipset drivers etc.

Has the mobo got the latest BIOS version installed and also the latest chipset drivers etc?

Is it at Ver.7B87v1B - 2019.11.11?(If it is not then I would suggest NOT installing the latest- 7B87v1C4 as it is only a beta version and may have some bugs rather go for the one I listed)

Also are the chipset drivers at Ver. 2.05.04.352

Just trying to eliminate possibilities as the CPU and amount of RAM are both good enough for the game.

@jayeff I am going to install the most recent chipset drivers, and i will install the BIOS update that you suggested. I will let you know if it fixes my problem.
