Any good hardware or electrical store should be able to supply you with one.

But do you know why the fuse blew? It could indicate an underlying fault which, in the worst case, could make the fan dangerous. Any signs of cracked or broken insulation on the lead, or damage to the plug? Any such faults must be corrected before going further. In fact, you'd do well to get it checked out and safety-tested by an electrical contractor.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment Philip & i'll say that the restart project site you provide link to will be of interest to check out more thoroughly, after this.

The link here is to the particular Holme's fan's manual and the diagram of the where the fuse is housed on the elct. cable-end you will likely know right-off or that is, it's (& i'm still guessing) a 20 mm size fuse?

https://www.holmesproducts.com/on/demand...

At any rate, another link to Amazon's where i asked pretty much the question as the same comment here of where to purchase...was either on this link's or another seller's display of the fuse and would it go in Holme's fan..etc..(just as an aside:) i don't have an Ebay acct. but is, of course, excellent source of info. and items, etc...to compare or find in similarity, and all that.

I think though, that what i also found was a 250 V fine if the V on the tiny micro size fuse the fan requires is ok or fine to use so long as it isn't the other way around. Therefore, i'll end up finding this fuse if that's the case with more of that voltage, or from what it does appear to be in this pursuit, what I've found more of as 250 V with the 5Amp. (here's link per the link from the same question as commentary herein, of course):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004TRY2HM?ref...

Shipping shouldn't be too much more than the price of the fuse, well-depending on the package that looks to be more than 1 and may make sense to have at least as back up.

Thanks again and Take Care Man!

Thank you for the link to Amazon. I can’t believe how hard it is to replace a tiny flipping fuse! I hope this gets the fan back to working.

Hi @ Shawn Casey,

If ever you want electronic components e.g. fuses use this site, this site, or this site

Not sure if anyone found anything yet, but I found the answer directly from the manufacturer booklet & wanted to pass it along.

Home Depot doesn't sell the Holmes fuse, (the 5A 125 V micro mini, call it whatever's its title) nor does Fry's Electronics and it was suggested to "go to Amazon" and so, this is almost like another barrier that you can't replace a part or something simple as a fuse . Well, you can if you can get it. And it's more telling (to me) that 'they' don't make them to be replaced, just replace the fan. But to me, that's not too smart either. There's that smart word. Just venting out my frustration in this new pursuit of a fuse.

If these Holmes fans are prone to blowing their fuses it would indicate an underlying design fault - a fuse shouldn't blow in normal usage. Is the motor labouring, perhaps clogged with dirt? That could cause the fuse to blow. Are you running it on the wrong voltage (e.g. US 110V fan used in Europe where the supply is 230V)?

If you type "fuse" into eBay you'll get fuses of virtually every type known to man. Is it a 20mm cartridge fuse? These are very common. If not, post a photo with dimensions so we can see what kind of fuse it is. Or is it a thermal fuse (https://therestartproject.org/wiki/Prote...)?

I found the information for my fuse on the plug, on the side.

What I'm curious about is 'how do I know if the fuse blew, and not the fan? The fuse is a mini tube style, about 3/4 inch long fuse, & it's a 125 volt 5 amp.

I see no burn marks, and the fan just stopped overnight so I don't know what did it, (as in smell or sound, if there was any).

There is nothing wrong with the chord, no smell of anything , I'm even trying it on low and it does nothing no sound no smell.

This is a homes stand up blade 16-in rotating model.

It is probably a year old.

Hi @richardkusak,

You can use an Ohmmeter and check if the fuse tests 0.00 Ohms from end to end i.e. a short circuit. If it does it is OK. Do this with the fan disconnected from the power supply.

If it tests infinite Ohms (OL on meter) it is open circuit and has blown

Alternatively if you know how to safely test for potentially lethal AC voltage, then connect the fan to the power supply and use an AC voltmeter and check if there is 120V AC on both ends of the fuse i.e. place one test lead from the meter on a known earth point and the other lead on one end of the fuse and then place the lead on the other end of the fuse.

If you measure 120V AC on both ends then the fuse is OK. If you only measure 120V AC on the input side of the fuse and not the output side of the fuse then it is faulty.

Lots of reasons why a fuse could blow. It is caused by excess current flow through the fuse i.e. exceeds its current rating, possibly due to a faulty component in the device or sometimes a power surge caused by a storm or a power outage.

If the fuse is OK then you would have to start testing other components in the fan e.g. motor windings, switches, capacitors, resistors etc to find out why it isn't working
