Device Does Not Power On
Kindle will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Kindle is Not Charged
The Kindle Oasis (8th Generation) does not come with a battery charger. However, any micro USB charger should work. Plug your Kindle to a power source with a micro USB charger to restore power to the battery. You may also charge your kindle with a battery case. Plug your Kindle in.
Faulty Power Button
Turn on your Kindle by connecting it to a laptop or wall charger. Remove any built up dirt or dust around the power button. Once Kindle is turned on, press the power button. If the Kindle does not respond to the power button, you have a faulty power button. (Follow the link below to see how to fix the power button).
Damaged Display
If your Kindle is plugged in to charge, check to see if the charging indicator light is on. If the charging indicator light is on, your power button is not damaged. If you plug your Kindle into your computer via USB, and your computer recognizes your Kindle, the battery is not damaged. This can mean that your Kindle is working, but your screen is unable to perform properly. (Follow the link below on how to replace the LCD screen).
Device Does Not Charge
Kindle does not show any signs of charging.
Faulty Battery
First check to see if your Kindle will charge using a micro USB. If the first cord doesn't work, try another micro USB cord. If the second cord doesn't work, your Kindle's battery is damaged. You will need to replace the battery. (Follow the link below on how to replace the battery).
Faulty Charging Port
First check to see if the micro USB is working by connecting it to other compatible devices. If the cord is working on other devices, plug your Kindle into a charger and check to see if the charging indicator light comes on. If the light doesn't come on, plug your Kindle into a computer to see if it is recognizable. If it’s unrecognizable and is not charging then check to see if their is any dirt or dust inside the charging port. If there is a build up of dirt or dust inside the charging port, clean it out. This can be done by simply blowing air into the charging port or by using a paper towel or tissue to wipe it out. If it is still not charging, your charging port is damaged. (Follow the link below on how to replace the charging port).
"Next Page, Previous Page” Buttons Are Not Working
Kindle does not react to command features.
Side Buttons Unresponsive
If the Kindle is able to turn pages through the touch screen but not through the side buttons, restart your Kindle. If the side buttons still aren't responding, check to see if there are any software updates. If the side buttons are still not responding, your Kindle's side buttons may be damaged. (Follow this link here to find a guide on how to replace the buttons).
Screen is Frozen
If the screen isn't responding to you touching the screen or the side buttons, try restarting the device. If the screen is still frozen and unresponsive, try updating the firmware by plugging it into your computer and downloading necessary update files. The available update files should appear once the Kindle is plugged in. If no available update appears upon plugging the Kindle in, you may also check on the Amazon website for available firmware updates. If you are able to update your Kindle's firmware and the screen is still unresponsive, your Kindle's screen is damaged. (Follow the link below on how to replace the LCD screen).
Internet Connectivity Issues
Kindle is having trouble connecting to the internet.
Does Not Connect to WiFi
If your Kindle cannot connect to WiFi, first try restarting your Kindle. If you restart your Kindle and it is still not connecting to the WiFi, check your settings to see if your Kindle is on airplane mode. If your Kindle is on airplane mode try disabling airplane mode. If your Kindle is still not connecting to the WiFi, make sure your internet is working. If your internet is working, then your Kindle's WiFi receiver is damaged. (Follow the link below on how to replace the WiFi receiver).
Broken/Cracked Screen
Kindle has a physical blemish.
Damaged Front/Back Panel
If there are any cracks or scratches on your Kindle's front and/or back panel, you may want to have the panel replaced. (Follow this link below on how to replace the front and back panel).

I was updating my Kindle Oasis 2 and it has frozen on the startup screen. Have tried to reset it by holding the reset button down for 40 seconds and more several times. But it is still stuck on the startup screen. This was a week ago. The battery hasn’t drained out yet. Is there any other way to reset it? Thanks!

THIS is where my kindle oasis is now. Were you able to correct the issue? :(

I have the same issue. The kindle has power and the light near the power button shows response to touching power button. No damage to the screen; but the idle screen is stuck. Hard resetting doesn’t work. Uploading update to root folder doesn’t work. The backlight goes on and off every 10-20 seconds like clockwork.

It happened to me because I used it in the swimming pool (underwater....) and next week started to frozen and finally didnt respond (later, I read that despity advertisments, you should not put it underwater).
I put it in a dehumidifier (it can be a single sealed box with a dehumidifying tablet that you can buy for ~€2/$2) and leave it for at least 48 hours, and now It works again
(the first few minutes it may be a little slow, but then it will be fine, like the first day).
Do not do as other people say of using a hair dryer, it can even be dangerous (the back is made of aluminum, so it can hurt your hand when it is hot, like it happened to me :-( )
Good luck!
