If the Lenovo ThinkPad L490 is overheating too much, this usually means that you need to replace the Lenovo ThinkPad L490's battery.

For this guide, you will need the Spudger and the Phillips #0 screwdriver. This guide does not have any difficult steps other than disconnecting the connectors carefully.

  1. Lenovo ThinkPad L490 Fan and Heatsink Replacement, Lower Case: passo 1, imagem 1 %32 Lenovo ThinkPad L490 Fan and Heatsink Replacement, Lower Case: passo 1, imagem 2 %32

    • Completely shut down your device and disconnect any peripheries before beginning.

    • Lay the laptop down with the lower case facing up.

    • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove eight 3 mm screws that secure the lower case.

    • Lift the lower case up and off of the chassis.

    • If necessary, insert an opening pick into the gap between the lower case and chassis and pry around the entire perimeter until the lower case fully releases.

    • Grip the battery connector and pull it directly out of its motherboard socket.

    • Use your fingernails to gently "walk" the fan connector directly out of its motherboard socket.

    • Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four M2 x 2.5 mm screws that secure the heatsink.
