My router doesn't turn on
Yesterday, I got a router from my ISP and it has not been switching on at all. At first glance, there were no signs of life. I eventually settled for opening the device, and heard a continuous clicking sound when the device was on. After closer inspection, there were two LEDs, each with a green and red light rapidly flashing. The router otherwise shows no signs of life, wifi does not work, and ethernet doesnt work either.
Can you help me?
Thanks
Esta é uma boa pergunta?
Hi,
What is the make and model number of the router?
How did you get the device to turn on when you said that there was no signs of life?
Did you allow at least 5 -8 minutes for the LEDs to stop blinking and to stay permanently on indicating that it had initialized after being powered on. Some routers take a bit of time to initialize.

The router is a Comtrend VR-3026e VDSL, and I've had it running for over an hour, but still nothing. There is an on-off switch on the back which, when in the on position, starts the flashing lights.

Have you been advised by your ISP that the internet line connection to your premises has been established and that you can connect the router to the cable coming into the premises?
If the line to the ISP is OK and the router is connected to it, when you turn on the router it signals the ISP equipment and starts initializing to get the best signal. If there is no response from the ISP equipment it can't do this and it stalls waiting for a response.

I turn on the router and all that happens is the lights flash, and on my account page on my isp website, it says the router is offline, this is because the router does not switch on.

There are also no faults detected in my area, and my neighbours have the same router and ISP and this works. My phone line works for calls too
