Why is my replacement hard drive failing every several months?

Upgraded a MacBook with a 1TB SSD hybrid 2.5" hard drive last summer (2015)(order #984912). This spring, the Mac locked up and would not reboot. Disk Utility said that the disk could not be repaired and must be formatted. After formatting and restoring, the drive worked fine for several months. The problem then reoccurred. Formatting and restoring again resolved the issue. Recently the problem occurred for the third time. Is this a common scenario for a failing drive? Have there been similar problems with this drive?

I doubt it's the hard drive, this sounds like a failed hard drive/IR cable issue. A bad cable can destroy a hard drive over time. We really need to know you exact machine. Please go here and enter your serial number and tell us what you have: http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-loo...
