Replaced LCD no backlight

Dear Ifxit,

I followed your guide to replace a Macbook Air display assembly. My model is a A1369.

This is my problem.

LCD works fine because I can see the graphic coming up, although the backlight is not working, I know this by shining a torch over the apple sign on the back of the lid. the LCD is definitely working.

Does this mean Ive blown the backlight fuse? Or is my "new" secondhand reconditioned screen the fault?

My thought process is this...If the fuse was blown then I wouldn't get any power at all to the LCD or backlight, so even the crystal wouldn't work. Correct?

Your thought process is wrong. The backlight has a different circuitry then the signal for the images. If your backlight fuse is out, then all you have is no backlight, but still signal to the LCD.

Could be either. Is there a reason to think the controller/fuse was damaged (liquid spill?). Examine the chip with a magnifier - see any discoloration?

BTW your ID spans two years and 5 machines... a more exact ID is important.

Its a 820-3023 logic board. When i get a multi meter ill test it. Theres been no liquid spill, i just can't get the back light to work. If tested it with 2 different screens now and still nothing.

Did you have a backlight with the previous screen assembly? If so, can you try switching back to it? If you switch back and you have a backlight, you board is fine.

Was your battery still connected when you replaced the display ?
