If you are sure it's the problem of charging port, just replace with a good one.

Can u point me in the direction to a good one I bought a cheap one off eBay and it still had a shortage

Unifix Direct sells a whole kit to replace the micro USB board for either the single pin or double pin version (check this beforehand as I messed up and used the double pin in a phone meant for the single pin). Not only do you get useful tools to open the phone but the part works well and comes in an anti-static bag (and already has EMI shielding tape attached to the ribbon cable except for the part that goes int the ZIF connector)

I just noticed I have a single pin and I bought the double. Did it affect your phone? I'm debating putting it in.
@Brian Gillespie It did impact my phone as I noticed it made the screen so dark that it was almost impossible to see anything on it, forcing me to buy a single pin part and redo the whole install to avoid the issue. I can't remember if Unifix Direct offers a single pin kit as well since the replacement part I got may be wearing out after less than a year, which is unfortunate as I broke the plastic ZIF connector piece for that board (didn't seem to impact performance)
