Canon Powershot Pro1 will not switch on
I have a new fully charged battery in the camera, yet when I try to switch it on, nothing happens.

anything happend with the camera in the past ?
what happens if you connect the camera via usb to a computer ?
is the lens in the "camera off" position ?

Hi Markus, thanks for your reply. I am not aware of this cameras history, but it is in pristine condition. WHen I connected it to computer via USB, nothing happened when I tried to switch it on. The lens is in the camera off position. The camera in question is a Canon Powershot Pro1.
did you check the switch in the battery compartment? are the battery contacts inside the camera looking good ?
The battery contacts appear to be good - i.e., nice and clean with no gunk on them and not bent.
and the compartment swicht ?
What is the compartment switch?

Thanks Markus. Here is the image of the camera's battery compartment. There appears to be what could be a switch below the battery connection rods. ANy thoughts? Hopefully you can see the image and it is large enough to see the detail.

sorry alexine, still on picture. if you added the picture to the image tab (bottom left), then dran and drop it into the "add your answer" window. you will see something like [ image|xxxxx] x stands for some digits

I can see the picture(changed from .large to .huge). but i didn't see anything special.
the main problem with the camera is the complexity of possible problems. it can start with "full but dead" batteries and go to bad or loose connections inside the camera. i don't know how far you could/would go. CLICK here to read something about dead cameras. a pro1 teardown could be found here. this is only to show you what would come in the next step
Hi i have a problem my canon power shot pro 1 wont turn on i charged the battrey and it didnt work so i bought new battreys and it still does not work i bought a new memory card and still not working is there some other solution i could use

HI,
I was gifted a Canon Powershot 1 Pro.
We are having a bit of trouble making
the zoom lens extend beyond the 28mm
mark. In other words no power zoom.
Also manually extending the zoom
feature is hit and miss. The quick use
guide is not much help.
