No Sound

Headphones are attached but no music can be heard through them.

Bad Connection Between Headphone Jack and Motherboard.

First open the unit to access the motherboard. Next, locate the leads which connect the headphone jack to the motherboard. Re-solder these leads.

Bad Headphones

Headphones often malfunction due to a lost connection between the speakers and the plug. A problem such as this will require repair or replacement of the headphones.

Screen is White

Device Turns on but shows no graphics, only white!

Device Needs to be Reset

To reset the device, hold down the power button for 20 seconds and release.

Bad Connection Between the Screen and the Motherboard

A white screen is generally an indication of a loose or bad connection between the screen and the motherboard. To solve this issue you will first need to open the unit. This can be done by simply removing the screw located on the bottom of the device adjacent to the battery compartment. You then will need to pry the device apart carefully as it is comprised of two interlocking casings. Now, locate the leads where the screen is connected to the motherboard. These leads will need to be re-soldered.

Cannot Unlock Device

Cannot access the device but instead see only the word "locked" and an image of a lock on the screen.

Lock Switch is Engaged

The lock switch is located under the screen opposite the power button. To unlock the device, slide this switch to the left.

Bad Connection Between Hold Switch and Motherboard

If the hold switch is already in the "unlocked" position but the device remains locked, your hold switch may have lost connection with the motherboard. To solve this issue you will have to open the unit. Now, locate the hold switch and leads which connect it to the motherboard. These leads will need to be re-soldered.

None of the Above

If the above solutions do not solve your problem, your hold switch likely needs to be replaced. To do this you must first open the unit. Now locate the hold switch and the leads which connect it to the motherboard. Use a soldering iron to melt the solder and remove the malfunctioning switch. Now insert a new working switch in its place and solder the connections.

Device Continually Freezes

Device frustratingly freezes at random despite there being no physical/noticeable damage.

Device Needs to be Updated

To update your device simply visit the Sandisk website and search for your device in the search bar by name. Now select your device from the options presented and follow the menus to locate the most recent firmware update.

Device Will Not Turn On

All efforts to turn on the device are futile.

Static Electricity Buildup

A buildup of static electricity in any electronic device will cause it to malfunction. To dissipate the static electricity from the device, first remove the battery and press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Now insert a fresh battery and try to power on the device. If this does not work, repeat the procedure only this time removing the battery and holding down the power button for a minute.

Disconnection Between the Battery Spring Contacts and the Motherboard

To solve this issue first remove the outer casing from the device. Now locate both spring contacts and the leads which connect them to the motherboard. These leads will need to be re-soldered.

Hold Switch is Engaged

If the hold switch is in the "locked" position, the device will not turn on. To unlock the device simply locate the hold switch, on the top of the device adjacent to the power button, and slide it to the left.
