Lori, Is your iPod a touch 3rd generation? (1318) Update: If this is in fact your iPod model, the repair process is fairly simple. Unfortunately, Apple still used soldered on headphone jacks for this model. If you do not have a soldering iron, you will not be able to repair this problem. If this is the case, Google search "iPod repair" in a town near you. This should run about $25-40. You can also buy repair services on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-Ipod-Touch-2nd-3rd-Generation-Headphone-Jack-Repair-Service-/321056016343?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash... However, if you do, you can repair it yourself for less than $5! Saiba maisI like to hold the LCD assembly at a 90° angle from the housing (on a table), pull the connector over the top of the frame and put the connector in it's approximate location. Look under the connector as you're lining it up to make sure it's centered. Once you get it in position, lock it in with a spudger or iPod opening tool. Make sure that the LCD flex cable is folded properly so it doesn't get pinched when you lay the screen down. Good luck Austin
Saiba maisThis is a problem with your home button controller. It is a small flex cable underneath your home button. This spring loaded button makes contact with the home button on the circuit board and when you press the home button, it closes the circuit indicating you pressed it. The spring getting stuck or worn out is very common. To fix this, follow the home button controller replacement guide found here: iPod Touch 4th Generation Home Button Ribbon Cable Replacement Take your time, paying attention to any cautions in the instructions. If pictures are to difficult to follow along with, search "iPod touch 4 home button controller replacement" on YouTube. There should be more than sufficient videos to get you through the repair process, which is fairly easy. Make sure you read through the instructions before you begin any repairs, ensuring you have all parts and tools necessary to successfully accomplish the job. A couple of things to watch for specifically, don't pull the screen out completely because the cable...
Saiba maisJohn, There is already a post addressing this issue, posted here: Power button bracket broken.. Unfortunately, nobody has been able to find one. Given the age of the post and new parts always coming out I decided to do some research of my own. I have not yet been able to find one. I would suggest keeping an eye on eBay and Craigslist for a broken iPod that you can scoop up REALLY cheap. Given the fact that you need at least six of these parts, that's not the most feasible option. I too refurbish iPods for people, luckily I have not yet run into this problem. If you need any parts that you cannot find on eBay, check out this fix. http://www.unionrepair.com/ipod/ipod-touch/ipod-touch-4th-gen-replacement-parts/ They currently have 56 parts for the 4th generation iPod touch. Best of luck, and keep this sight updated if you find something! Austin
