If you are going to be using the old hard drive for storage, I would recommend attaching it via USB as, most boards do not have enough connections to carry more than one internal hard drive. The only way you could potentially do this is if your internal logic board has a spot for a EMMC\M2 slot where you can insert a card SSD. Hope this helps.
Saiba maisTest the fins on your motherboard that goes to your battery. You will have two or three fins that are just a little longer than the rest. These are your grounds. Now, plug in your power adapter and put your black tip, coming from your volt meter, on one of the longer fins then start testing your shorter fins, one at a time, to see if you are getting any voltage. Normally, they should show 2.9v-3.34v each. One of the shorter fins will be dead. This is normal. If you are not getting any voltage or, if you are getting a very high reading(like 18.5v or higher) then there is a problem with your motherboard. Hope this helps.
Saiba maisTry re-seating your memory. Also, when you are doing this, remove the memory and turn the laptop on to see if it beeps. If it does, then simply put the memory back in, after removing the power. If it does not beep, then it could very well be your motherboard. Secondly, you might try removing the hard drive( if applicable) and memory. Power the unit up to see if it responds to no memory. If it does, put just the memory back in and see it you get the “Lenovo” logo. If you do, power it down and put the hard drive back in. Try booting it again. If it does not come up with logo then your hard drive is bad and simply needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.
Saiba maisNormally, on the pcb board, there are little markings that tell you which is positive and negative. If you don’t see it, look at where the plug originally went in and find the place where one pin is different(via the underlying copper). If you can see where the other mounting pins went into the board(anywhere from two to six prongs) this will be your ground. You should see where the positive pin hits on a different line of copper, all together, and this will be your positive. The way you can tell is get an electronic volt meter and set it to audible(this is usually marked with a sound or speaker icon) and test the points. Keep one tip on what you can tell is the ground and verify by touching another point that is the ground. If you hear a constant beep, that means these are linked to the same circuit. find the point that looks like it is on a different circuit and test it the same way. If you get no audible sound, that will most likely be your positive connection. Without knowing exactly what kind of pcb...
Saiba maisTo be on the safe side, I would replace both of them. This would alleviate any doubt regarding the port that has the black circles on it. Just make sure your replacement charger has the correct wattage, volts, and amps needed, for this particular laptop, so it will charge properly.
Saiba maisUnfortunately, this DC Port is soldered to the main board. Unless someone knows what they are doing, replacing it will damage the board, itself. My suggestion is to find a place that has the experience in replacing them. Or, with a little know how, you can replace it and save a few dollars. The ONLY other option is to replace the mother board entirely. This cost starts around $250 and only goes up from there. I wish I had better news for you.
Saiba maisThis is a valid thing. If you don’t use the right tape, when replacing the battery, it can cause the battery to swell and\or explode. It has to do with the wireless charging aspect of the phone. ESD tape prevents ESD(Electro-Static Discharge) from zapping the battery. Hope this helps.
