Sounds like your cat turned off your touch pad. It can easily be fixed by pressing the function key, Fn, and F3 at the same time. This should turn it back on.
You need to make sure that you read the specifications of the software to meet the requirements for the device that you are installing it. If the software is working be running slow on the device your just meeting the minimal requirements for the software to run. So you might and to upgrade your memory card in the device so the software can run at its optimal performance.
When you did an update for the device it didn't meet the requirements for the device or something happen when loading it on to the device.
