How to Reinforce a Hammock

Introdução

If the weather and excess weight limits have damaged your hammock's rope, this guide will provide you a way to securely hang your hammock with material that will last longer and withhold larger weight capacities.

Using metal screw hooks and metal clasps that support larger weight limits and are mounted in the tree will allow you to get more use out of your hammock for a longer period of time.

Before starting this project make sure your power drill is fully charged. This will allow you to get a deeper cleaner hole into each side of the tree without breaking drill bits or having any issues with inserting the screw hole into the tree.

Also, you will want to make sure you find two trees that are at least 6-7ft apart to (or the appropriate distance of whatever size hammock you chose) to make sure the hammock sits up far enough from the ground.

Remove and discard any damaged rope from your hammock.

Use a power drill and a 3/8 size drill bit to drill small hole in one side of the tree.

Insert the screw eye screw into the hole and begin screwing it in to the tree until it is secured fully into the tree.
A screwdriver or flathead may be needed at this point to make sure the screw eye is all the way in the tree.

Attach the metal clasp to the rings attached to the end of the hammock.

Once your screw eye is inserted fully into the tree and your metal clasps are connected to the ends of the hammock you can attach the metal clasp to the the screw eye.

After attaching the hammock to the tree, repeat steps 1-5 on the other side of the hammock to the other side.
You will want to make sure that the second tree is at least 6ft-7ft away from the first tree.
