Background and Identification
Released on November 22, 2005, the Xbox 360 wireless controller is the main game controller for the Microsoft Xbox 360 home video game console. The controller is also available in a wired version. The original Xbox controller, the primary game controller for the Xbox from 2000, is not compatible with the Xbox 360.
Both versions of the Xbox 360 controller are compatible with Microsoft PC operating systems including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.
Compared to the original Xbox controller, The Xbox 360 wireless controller is significantly smaller, replaces the black and white buttons with left and right bumpers, moves the back and start buttons to straddle the X, and is significantly lighter—from 363g to 281g.
