Where is the fusion drive in the power supply?

Dear reader,

I’ve a problem. My power supply of my Asus desktop won’t work as the fuse is broken. However, I did not accomplish to find the fuse in the power supply. Can anyone help me to search for the fuse? Normally it’s easy to find (according to many sites on the internet because it should be somewhere at the corner). See the pictures below for an overall view. As you can see, I can’t find the fuse at the corner.

N D the internet seems to be right again. Check the area circled in red. Sure looks like a fuse to me. Remember that there are different variants of a fuse etc. If you have never worked on a PSU you need to be extremely careful. There are some shocking voltages on it and nobody needs to get hurt. Follow the advice given by @salmonjapan

I wouldn’t repair the power supply - the problem is you do not know why it blew the fuse and if the fuse blows, something serious happened! Unless this is some snowflake machine that uses a nonstandard unit that isn’t compatible with standard ATX 24-pin, you can find good ones made by companies like Seasonic or Corsair for a reasonable cost.

Don’t risk your system to save a few bucks.

I agree on nick, if cannot get repaired, get those good one on what he has mentioned... which i know there is 100V - 230V universal input

@salmonjapan You can spot junk with the switch. The good ones do it automatically but you pay for it.

before you replace the fuse, chances it has some other issues which you need to check, e.g. shorted ic, etc.

replacing it may not help as the fuse can blow again..

what happened actually? any surge or etc ? any abnormalities ?

it seems the secondary side capacitor looks bloated too.

do you have some knowledge on this repair?

take caution on the big capacitor, as there could be some charges, which can give you a nasty shock if precaution is not observed.

do you have a multimeter?

The cause of the problem was the voltage switch. As you probably know, some power supplies have a voltage switch. My little brother didn’t know what that switch actually mean, so he switched it on 115 volt instead of 230 volt. The mains voltage is 230 volt in my country, so it is logically that the fuse of the power supply broke in the end.

Hi N D in this case, probably some components has been affected at the primary side, which need to check more, e.g. like MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor), fuse, and possible bridge rectifier and those big capacitor could be affected too, if you are unsure in this repair, do not proceed further, for safety reasons. I suggest you to you to get a new PSU
