for running the A1418 iMac 2012 just cover the lower 13 pins (Pin 17 to 30) with tape on the on the LVDS connector coming from the display and connect the broken display. now the SMC can read its sensors and only the external display wil be detecte because all displayport signals are on the lower 13 pins. cpu runs at full speed and fans running at normal speed.
