My MacBook Air will not turn on

Texto:

I have a MacBook Air late 2018 (A1932) that I got in May 2019 which suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago. I used it two days before, shut it down and then it never turned on again. I brought it to the Apple Genius Bar and they tested out the battery, tried a different charging cable, did all the basic tests that they could but could not determine the problem. They suggested changing the logic board for 700$+.

Since I have some valuable data on there, I am not ready to try anything that might erase the SSD.

I opened it up and all looks ok, nothing is loose, no water damage, looks brand new.

I realized that the haptics on the trackpad work when it’s seemingly turned on, and my phone also charges. Also I have heard the fan come on for 2 seconds at a time but then nothing. There are no lights on the caps lock or the lighted keyboard. The haptics stop working when I drain the battery or when I do the CTRL+Option+Shift+power key combination.

the only damage I have is a small crack on the bottom edge of the screen which happened when something small got lodged in there and it cracked when closing it.

I have also tried plugging it into another monitor with a USB-C to HDMI cable but no luck. My external keyboard also didn’t light up.

I am curious about the trackpad « clicking » and wonder if there is any hope that it’s not the logic board that is the problem. Any thoughts? Thank you!!
