Unrelated to this initual question, but I ended up having to take apart and reassemble this unit a few times before it would power up. I finally got it to do so, but not before popping off the plastic clip that holds down the little digitizer cable to the motherboard, so the unit now has no working touchscreen. I ended up buying a New 3DS XL from an Amazon warehouse deal.
