Trimmer failing to activate
The trimmer will not turn on, regardless of what you do.
Dead battery
If you have not turned your trimmer on in a while or used it recently, the battery may be dead and just needs to be replaced.
Broken motor
If you happened to drop your trimmer and it no longer turns on, there is a good chance the motor broke. A quick way to tell if the motor is broken, shake your device. If you hear any rattling then it is more likely to be the motor. Fixing this requires you to open up your device, so it is better to check the other options first.
Corroded or broken battery leads
After long term usage, the battery may corrode and in some cases the leads can break off. To check this, simply twist the bottom off and look at the leads (the leads are the silver metal pieces where the battery is held). If they are corroded, there will be a white residue where the battery contacts the leads. Removing the corrosion is pretty simple since you can scrape it off. (Note: DO NOT TOUCH CORROSION WITH YOUR BARE SKIN). Using a solution such as Caig DE-oxit D5 on a cotton swab is another good way to clean a corroded terminal.
Blade is not spinning
After flipping the switch, the trimmer blade does not rotate.
Broken motor shaft
If the blade snags or suddenly gets jammed, the motor shaft can snap, preventing the blade from spinning. If you remove the black trimmer cap, the motor shaft juts out of the top of the device. Give it a gentle tug and if it pops out then it is broken and will need to be replaced.
Motor stuck/not spinning due to corrosion
If the motor has been turning slowly, even with a new battery, or it has stopped turning all together, it is possible the motor has some corrosion. While the motor cannot be seen, it is internal to the body, WD-40 can be sprayed liberally up in to the body, soaking the internals. Drain the residual WD-40, blow it out with compressed air if available.
The trimmer is on and the blade is spinning but is not cutting anything.
Dull or broken blade
After long term usage, the blade can start to wear down or even break entirely. To check if the blade is broken, remove the trimmer cap and pull the blade out of the cap. If it is broken, the blade will have noticeable pieces missing from the top. The blade will have to be replaced for this fix.
Power switch jam
The power switch is incredibly hard to flip or will not flip at all.
Clogged switch
After long term usage, the power switch can get jammed, making it really difficult to flip. Over time debris can build up under the switch causing a jam. For this fix you will have to open up your device and remove the switch.
Switch leads corroded/broken
After long term usage, the leads connecting the switch to the battery can corrode or even break off. Just like the battery leads, the leads connecting the switch to the rest of the device can corrode or break. Checking this will require you to open up your device.
Vortex Cleaning System jammed
Water does not flow through the top portion for cleaning your trimmer.
Water pass through ring jammed
After long term usage, the ring at the top can get jammed, preventing you from turning it for cleaning. To check for debris, remove the trimmer cap and look inside the top of the device.
Water pass through ring broken
If your trimmer falls, the ring you turn to let water through can break, preventing you from cleaning your trimmer properly. Inspect the ring and check for cracks. If the ring is cracked or missing, you will have to replace it.

I have taken good care of my Panasonic nose trimmer none of the above applies to the problems I'm having other than it does not work. Where can I have it repaired as I'm very pleased with my product

Lasts 2 years. All of them fail but they are the best. Buy new on. Repair cost more than replace

I want my Panasonic nose trimmer to be repaired. I'm very pleased with it. I've changed the batteries I've always taken good care of it.

Mine wouldn't power on w fresh battery. Turns out the connector in battery cover had depressed and was no longer making a connection. I pried it up a bit and all is well. I'll store it on its side from now on in case the weight of the battery pressed the connector down too much.

The first two Panasonic nose trimmers I bought were awesome and lasted a year or more. The last two I have purchased have had weak motors. I have always taken very good care, cleaning after every use, which is about once a week. This last one I bought in August, 2019 is so weak it is useless. It has been used 5 times. I replaced the battery and it does not affect the power. The prior one lasted four months, but I thought it might be a lemon. Two in a row? There is definately a problem.
I sure wish you guys would fix this issue and let me know when you have. Until then, I will try to find another that works as well as yours used to.

The Panasonic ER-GB370 cordless wet/dry trimmer I bought via Amazon hasn’t run with sufficient power since it was delivered. I followed all directions in terms of initial charging, and continue to keep it charged as per the instructions. Battery? Arrived w/ a worn out battery?

I had the same issue. The most common problem with this hair nose trimmer is spring inside the lid lose its flexibility. I placed a folded aluminum foil between battery and lid and it is working flawlessly.

My trimer would not start most of the time, after several times trying to use it , I took the cap off the bottom and moved the contacts in closer now the battery has good contact starts every time and stays on till I am done and turn it off.

The motor won’t run with the blade is attached, but will run when the black cap is removed. What isn’t synching? It used to work well.

Thank you! I really hated to toss this beautiful device which continues to represent the unmatched low-cost precision manufacturing of Japan. How could it just stop working. Thanks to your tips, I used a jeweler’s loop to discover the battery lid metal contact (which appeared fine to the eye) was completely brown. Strange, there was never a leak, but somehow it corroded. Perhaps humid bathroom storage. Anyway, a little filing down, pulling up on the springs, and it’s working again!

I bought one in the US in Sep 2019. It stopped working after justa few months of usage. Changing battery did not help! The earlier purchase of trimmer in 2002..it lasted for 17 years! I feel this model has an inherent problem and the company should look into it and discontinue its production till the fault is located and rectified.

MAKE THE CONNECTION. My ER-GN30 was working one day and then, it did not work the next day. Changing batteries did not help, nor did the other items in the above checklist. Then , I noticed that when the cover to the battery chamber was off, the battery fell out of its slot with little or no effort. So (as in Billy Jackson's Aug. 16/19 comment), using a plastic fork, I very gently pulled forward (i.e., towards the bottom of the battery chamber) the circular connector located inside the lower part of the motor housing. This created enough pressure on both ends of the battery so that the electrical circuit in the trimmer was again completed and so that the *#$@%(! trimmer worked again as it should. I do not know if I will have to keep doing this every month or two, but this is a likely solution if the battery is not fitting in tightly with the electrical connectors at the top and bottom of the battery chamber.

On 3rd purchase, and better than rival.
1st I dropped and broke, after years of working.
2nd packed up after a few months, motor not working to full potential.
3rd packed up after 2 weeks
The battery holder is not spring loaded, and this is the course of 2nd and 3rd not working its the contact not being made, so used a small bit of tin foil on the top connection, both work now

The inner and outer blade are stuck in the protective cap

Good stuff! After fiddling with it I noticed that the cap’s negative lead was crushed down. Delicately lift the item and screw cap back on! Voila, it works.

WD-40!
I've had a Panasonic ER-GN30 nose hair trimmer for years, although I don't use it often and I'd say I take good care of it.
It has always seemed to perform as though it has a low battery. I first noticed corrosion on the negative battery contact, the one up in the body of the unit. I treated it with Caig Deoxit D5 (an amazing product) which helped, yet the issue continued to return.
Recently, the trimmer stopped working all together. I used a power supply to "bump it" with 3v which got is spinning. So I know the switch is good and the motor "can" turn. I removed the battery and pointed the trimmer blades toward the ground and then liberally sprayed WD-40 up into the body of the trimmer. I sprayed a lot, enough to completely saturate the internals. Then I tipped it over and used some compressed air to blow out any remaining fluid.
The trimmer once again works great, the blades spin at full speed again.

I know I am stupid but I spent ages trying to make mine work. Eventually I found the problem -- I had put the battery in the wrong way! It works now.
