So when we got to the bit instructing us to remove the system board to take out the fan, we were a bit confused, amused, and eventually miffed.

It looks to us like with some more detailed instructions, it would be pretty easy to skip removing the entire board and just pop up a corner. If only there were some sort of freely available repair documentation platform available on the internet.
