Year, model, engine? Abs module replacement is not diy friendly and may require Nissan's scan tool to activate the module valves for bleeding. Procedures from service manuals must be followed for this type of advanced repair. This is not a simple remove and replace routine.

@notbroken I haven't looked up the information on the Nissan, but on my old Volvo 850 the control module just takes unplugging it from the assembly and six screws to remove and replace, no programming or bleeding required.

No guarantees, but it could be that simple if you're not replacing the entire ABS, motor and all rather than just the controller.

@davevolvoman, I'll be happy to look into it if you provide the information F Dryer requested.

@dadibrokeit, I think you may be partially correct. A quick scan of several years seems to show the same abs control module removal/replacement without needing a scan tool. However, bleeding is required and in a sequence.

2009 SL.

There’s a Canadian company that will rebuild it so it won’t need to be reprogrammed, or if unrepairable, will reprogram a new unit with the old unit’s programming. I just need to take the unit out and put it back in. I’ll have the local dealer do the final recalibrations. I’m thinking I’ll need to work through the right front fender, but I’d rather not if I can avoid that.

Hi @davevolvoman

Here's the section from the service manual that shows the removal and installation procedure for the ABS Actuator and Electric Unit (Control Unit)

I really appreciate your comment, but when I click the link I get a message that says “server not found”. Is there something I’m not doing correctly?

@davevolvoman

Just tried it and it works OK for me

Type the following in the your browser (or click on the link) and see if you get to the home screen of the website https://lemon-manuals.org.ua/

If you get to it OK navigate through using the following:

Nissan-Datsun >> 2009 >> Murano FWD V6-3.5L (VQ35DE) >> Repair and Diagnosis >> Brakes and Traction Control >> Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems >> Electronic Brake Control Module >> Service and Repair >> Removal And Installation

Thank you! I was using my Safari browser, but it still wouldn’t work, but I switched browsers and the new one offered a .la rather than the .ua, and that worked. I found the blowup pic for the ABS unit, and it shows me the bolt locations for the bracket, which is what I needed. i think I can do this. Really appreciate your help!
