@ramsey74643 by direction controller are you referring to the right joystick? If so, check this page for an explanation of how the joysticks work and how to work and check the microswitches.
This game is a rarity on here and it would be great if you take lots of pictures while you work on it. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
