Motherboard replacement (first time fixer)

I have a 650 g2 that i love and all of a sudden went out and after looking I noticed the motherboard is no longer in it, wich made absolutely 0 sense to me. How much do I need to be prepared to spend? Any other tips or tricks that I need to know before I do this?

Just verifying that the motherboard has been removed from the laptop case (rest of laptop still left there?) and not that the motherboard is still there and just that the laptop doesn't work?
