What should I do!?
I just bought a iPod nano off eBay and it wont work! It just has the padlock in the top left even when the hold switch is off!

@ubaldopatino sounds like your hold/lock flex is no longer working. Time to fix that. Here is the guide for it Reparo do cabo plano do interruptor Hold/Lock do iPod Nano de 4ª/5ª geração. While you do have it apart already, might as well replace the battery too Substituição da bateria do iPod Nano de 5ª geração You don't want to open it to many times.These are very difficult to work on and require lots of patience.
