I want to switch to Linux(Ubuntu)
I want to switch to Linux but I am worried alot of my machines functions wont work due to drivers.

Download and run a live version of Ubuntu on the laptop
Doing it this way means that you can try it and check if it works OK. before installing it in the laptop

Please note, there are too many versions of Linux. Do diligence b4 downloading will save some time. Running it from a USB will help you decide which version to load permanently. Personally, I like Mint Mate.
