Why is my adapter overheating

It could be a faulty adapter, faulty adapter cable or a problem in the laptop.

Try using another known working, compatible adapter and check if it heats up or is OK when connected to the same laptop.

If it works OK then the problem is in the original adapter or adapter cable.

If it also heats up then the problem is on the motherboard in the laptop. The schematics would be needed to find out what's wrong on the motherboard. Unfortunately if the motherboard model number is LA-B171P (as printed on the board itself) I can't find a schematic online, you may have better luck.
