Screen turns white. Phone operates OK. Closing/reopening phone usually restores image to screen. Was told by AT&T that it is probably a loose/bad interconnecting cable between the 2 halves of the phone.

It appears that the connector shown in this guide step is the you would want to inspect. Follow the guide up to the step linked above and you will be able to at least inspect the connector. Replacing the screen may take some exploration. Hope this helps and good luck.
