MacBook Air M2 battery (issue?)

Hi. I went to AASP today and they unscrewed the bottom plate of my MacBook to show me that my hinges are okay. I saw kind of wavy lines on the battery but didn’t ask them about it. I wonder if they scratch or somehow damaged my battery. I circled areas where I saw this lines on the picture

Could you take a picture farther out? It is really hard to tell when it is so close.

@thequacker I didn’t take any picture, unfortunately. These wrinkles were rounded in these areas. I just worried about battery health because my MacBook is only 4 months old. I haven’t been using it because it has been repaired 3 times. Repairs took over 3 months. My MacBook makes a loud click sound from the top case when I turn it on. But when I turn off and turn on the screen immediately, it doesn’t make that loud noise; you can hear a click only if you place your ear close to the top case in this case. I don’t know if this is normal. AASP did the diagnostic and it says that everything is fine. But I know cases when Apple diagnostic was wrong and people had problems, but the diagnostic said that everything is completely fine.

@midnight77 - First diagnostics is very limited! It only can check the inner-digital world of the logic board it can’t check outer-world ports or analog inputs or outputs.

The click you are hearing is likely a mis-aligned hinge. Think how a jar lid thumps when you depress the raised edge which shows if the vacuum seal is still present. Or the ribbon cables are rubbing.

Time to go back and demand a replacement system that is still sealed or get your money back and find a new AASP or just get to an Apple Store.

Talk to your consumer protection council or state run support folks. Know your rights before going back. If you can’t return the system or get a replacement get the AppleCare+ coverage for a year at least and keep it active.

@danj Hi. Thanks for your answer!

We don’t have replacement policy in our country, they can’t make a refund either.

I didn’t understand how the click from the top case could relate to the hinges. The loud click appears when MacBook was in sleep mode/ turned off for awhile. There’s still a click from the top case when you turn off and turn on MacBook immediately, but you can only hear it if you put your ear close to the laptop.

I also have hinge noise, but it sound different. Hinges noise appear when I open the lid. The noise also appears when I close the lid after being open for about 15-30 minutes. It’s only noticeable in a quiet room and AASP engineer couldn’t hear it. The AASP office was quite, but the noise wasn’t so noticeable. I don’t know how to explain this. They might thought that I’m crazy. I showed them videos but they need to hear that noise in the office.

I really think that the lid is misaligned, but in AASP they couldn’t see it.

I also can hear sticky noise when I press the bottom case.

@danj I’ve made another thread about my issues 😉

@thequacker @midnight77   - The first image is a bit to far to see the areas.

I think these wrinkles are not too worrisome if they are small as the outermost encapsulation is to control out gases of a failed battery.
