Why is my controller glitching

So i bought a second hand control and i put new batteries and stuff but wen i tried to turned it on all the lights turned on and it was very feint. It then turned of and did not turn back on until i took out the batteries and put them back in the lights where also very glitchy... I then took it apart and repaired the positive terminal and its trace but that disnt seem to solve my issue... Is it possible that one of the chips are destroyed or i did not repair the terminal properly.
