BoP DoP I would start with a new Battery. By now the one in this phone is definitely depleted. Now, Apple is really finicky with the batteries on these. Make sure that you get the battery that is absolutely the right one for your phone. Once you have it installed, re-evaluate and see what it does. If nothing else it'll give you a known-well starting point for further troubleshooting. iPhone 3GS Battery Replacement
