phone no longer start after wireless charging coil damage.

I recently attempted to replace the rear glass on Iphone 8 and was able to remove the broken glass without bit of work but was finally cleared it. one think I noticed during the glass removal was that the wireless charging coil got little ripped and damaged. i did not think it would be a real bid deal but since then the phone does not boot up. would simply replacing the wireless charging coil resolve the issue? I don’t want to purchase replacement part if in fact the phone is completely dead, due to maybe short circuited itself when the coil was damaged somehow. any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated…

Hi I was also trying to remove the broken back glass from a iPhone xr and I caught the wireless charging port with the tool I was using. This then fused to the metal housing and I saw smoke coming from the wireless charging pad. The phone will not power on now. Will this just be a replacement wireless coil or could I have caused more damage to the motherboard? Thanks in advance for any help sent my way

I would also try to unplug the battery and discharge the phone. Saying this because if you plug the battery in before everything else it'll try to start up, but get stuck in a loop and not sow anything up on screen. Hope this helps., even tho it's 5 years late, lol

Have you tried booting the phone without the charging coil connected? The phone should boot properly without it.

Unfortunately, the only way to know if the logic board was damaged is to try a known-good replacement coil. I suspect the coil is shorted and that is causing issues with the charge circuit, which in turn will impede the device from booting.

As Minho said. But just disconnect it to test first.

In short yes it would stop the phone from turning on going from past experience , I also ripped the charging coil trying to pry it off without a use of heat therefor causing it to rip so I reconnected phone thinking if it works it works but if the wireless charge didn’t work was not a big deal however with the wireless charging coil connected to the logic board phone would not turn on and took for me to disconnect the coil flex cable for it to boot again just purchased a new coil for a few quid drama over hope that helped

Similar thing happened to me but with the iPhone XR instead I pierced it a bit wit the tip of the blade when removing the glass. it’s doing a constant boot loop now, what should I do?
