I have a SSHD in my Alienware R2 15” Laptop. It’s a 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD. However, I’ve maxed it out and require a new one. I still want a Hybrid Drive, preferably 2TB+ HDD and a 256GB SSD. However, I don’t know what drive will work. For instance, how big or small the drive needs to be(I assume 2.5”). Can anyone help?

Your system has two M.2 AHCI drive connections as well as the 2.5” HDD SATA port you might want to see if you can install a 2TB Blade SSD in one of them.

Well I’d prefer a HDD cause I don’t want to spend that much on a drive.
You can get a Seagate FireCuda 2TB SSHD drive just keep in mind the thickness of the drive is 7.0 mm so you'll want to see what your bay can support before you buy it.
@danj Dell laptops tend to be flexible about it. Mine came with a 7mm drive but I was able to install a 9.5mm drive in the system. I needed to buy the bumpers and drive cover for the 9.5mm drive but that was all I needed. I probably could have bought the bumpers alone but most of the eBay sellers sell it as a kit and IIRC it wasn't much more.
That said this was in a Dell Latitude so I don't know if the difference in the Alienware caddy will make it an issue. I don't think it will be far off and I suspect the only difference is there will be empty space in the chassis once the drive is replaced if the laptop shipped a 9.5mm drive when it was bought from Dell. I would recommend the OP double checks, just to err on the side of caution.
@nick - Thanks! I was thinking this system might have the smaller thin series drives (6.5 mm) looking at the user guide. In any case it pays to double check!
@danj I don't know with 100% certainty which one it came with, but I suspect it came with the 9.5mm SSHD, judging from the datasheet I can find that matches the era of the laptop. That said, most Dell laptops use the 7mm SSHD. Dell has also used these Seagate SSHD drives for a while (at least since Haswell). I'm not fond of them because of past Seagate drives failing younger then they should multiple times (My SSHD began degrading at 10k hours) but if someone has good luck then they should use them. My go to since the 7.01/7200.11 has been WD (Specifically WD Black drives).
It looks like this one uses a drive plate so the chassis will need to support it, rather then the hard drive caddy. My Latitude is similar except it uses that cover and rubber bumpers and it's a side mounted drive, rather then a bottom mount where the PCB is at the bottom and the rest of the drive goes into the chassis.
I've never heard of a 6.5mm drive - it must be a typo.

I don’t know of any 2.5” SSHD drives that have that big a SSD cache. Are you sure you don’t have two discrete drives here? One has your OS (Windows) & Apps and the other has everything else.

It might. I don’t know the size of the drive, I’m guessing it’s 2.5” cause most laptops use that. That said, it might actually be two drives as you suggested, in which case it would make my life easier cause I wouldn’t need to reinstall Windows no?
