unit does not power up

i found when i open up the phone. that one of the battery screws was missing. every thing seemed to go back together but i cant get the phone to start up. the old battery did not work so not sure if the battery blow up damaged the phone or what. i am not really sure if i want to go to the second phone now to try and repair it. since i did not get it to work. ...what to do. ? to do next

If the phone is not powering up, then the first thing to check is the battery. If you have access to a known-good battery, try installing it to see if it allows the phone to boot. If you have access to a USB Ammeter, you could use that to determine if the phone is really drawing current when it says it's charging.
