When i power on the device my screen appears black. However under the right light it i can kind of see an image, but its too dim no matter what the brightness setting is at.

Possible causes for a very poorly backlit display include a a mostly depleted battery charge, a faulty backlight, which would call for the replacement of the LCD screen, or faulty display connections (which can be checked using the bottom guide link).
