iRobot Roomba i7 Does Not Charge
The iRobot Roomba i7 does not charge when connected to the Home Base.
Home Base is Not Connected
Check that your home base is plugged into an outlet.
Unit Needs to be Rebooted
When the Roomba i7 battery is not charging, it might be helpful to reboot the device. To do this, hold the CLEAN button for 20 seconds until the light ring around the CLEAN logo starts spinning around. The device will then take up to 2 minutes to turn on again. When the light turns off, the reboot is complete.
Battery is Not Installed
Check the battery compartment to ensure that the battery is installed. If it is not installed, follow the procedure to install it.
Battery Needs Replacement
Your battery may need to be replaced. Please see this guide for replacing iRobot Roomba i7 Battery.
Front Bumper Loses Connection
The iRobot Roomba i7 is not moving and continuously giving an error.
Error 9: The Bumper is Stuck and Not Moving Freely
Try tapping the bumper several times. This may dislodge any debris that may have been trapped underneath. Then press CLEAN to restart the device. If no debris is found using this method, then use this guide.
Error 16: The Bumper is Either Dislodged or the Device is Tilted
If the iRobot Roomba i7 is unable to start cleaning due to a possible tilt, move the Roomba to a FLAT surface then press CLEAN to restart. Do not move the Roomba while pressing the CLEAN button. If the “Error 16” still occurs, reboot the Roomba. To do this, hold the CLEAN button for 20 seconds until the light ring around the Clean logo starts spinning around. The device will then take up to 2 minutes to reboot. When the light turns off, the reboot is complete.
Bumper Needs Tightening
If the Roomba is still not cleaning and displaying “Error 16,” then use this guide to tighten the dislodged bumper.
Wheels Won’t Turn
The main wheels on the iRobot Roomba i7 fail to turn or are blocked by debris.
Error 5 the Left or Right Wheel Will Not Turn Due to Debris
If one of the Roomba’s wheels is not turning and giving an “Error 5” message, flip over the device and push the “problem” wheel in and out multiple times. Check the wheel well for debris and try to shake it out. If the debris fails to dislodge, use this guide to remove wheels and then remove the debris. After clearing the debris reinstall the wheels and manually rotate them several times ensuring similar resistance between the wheels. Then, press CLEAN to restart the device.
Broken Wheel
If the Roomba’s wheel fails to turn, use this guide to remove and replace the broken wheel(s).
Side Brush Won’t Spin
The spinning side brush on the iRobot Roomba i7 fails to turn or is broken completely.
The Roomba Side Brush is Not Spinning Due to Jam
If the side brush is not spinning, there could be a jam inside the mechanism. To fix this problem, remove the side brush using this guide and manually clean around the brush.
The Roomba Side Brush is Broken
If the side brush is broken, remove the broken brush and replace it with a new brush using this guide.
iRobot Roomba i7 Won’t Clean
As the iRobot Roomba i7 travels around the room, it doesn’t seem to pick up dirt.
Faulty Cleaning Head System
Can you hear the vacuum sucking air into the Roomba? If it isn't making a sucking sound, the vacuum is broken. Consider buying a replacement cleaning head system.
Clogged Filter
Remove filter from the device. If there are large amounts of dirt and debris, the filter may be clogged. Consider replacing or cleaning the filter by following this guide.

Our vacuum won’t leave the charger. Keeps saying empty the bin, which we have done. We were very happy with the first two roomba’s , is this something specific to the i7”s?

I have the same problem, replaced both the bin and cleaning module and still seeing the same error. Does anyone have any ideas?

Same here, it's fully charged, filter changed, it will empty but, it will not leave the charging station.

I got this in September and it is now October and I see it as a lemon . I have an older irobot from 2016 and it runs better than this one. To spend over 1k on a vacuum and have to contact customer support multiple times is a bit much. This didnt help me solve my latest problem of it not turning on for more than 10 seconds without giving me the put on a flat surface error.
Alexandria - Responder
Make sure the i7 dock bin lid is fully closed or it won’t be able to vacuum out the i7 roomba.

I had an error message telling me to replace the filter. I replaced the filter and the message continued. I reset the entire roomba but the error message wouldn’t go away. Hours later the i7 worked fine. It appears that the vacuum
motor may have just been over worked and needed time to cool down or they have this as a safety feature built in to i7’s that they didn’t think to tell anyone about .

Does anyone here know how to escalate an issue with a robot as UK customer support are proving useless? I was sent a replacement for an i7+ which has never worked, I tried everything suggested by customer support to no avail, eventually it was sent off for repair and came back in the same faulty state. Customer support are now asking for video evidence which I already sent them a couple of months ago and I'm sick and tired of this. Is there an email address or phone number where you can talk to someone who gives a %#*@?

I need help. I just got my Roombai7. It cleaned about half my house yesterday and needed to recharge. If I put it in the room where it left off, will it remember what it has cleaned/not cleaned and just start from there? I cannot find answers to questions like this. Is there a site to turn to for other questions re the operations of this vacuum?
Candis Stern - Responder
Once it charges it should go back and finish where it left off. You should keep the charging station in the same place and not move the vacuum manually.
I found that it used more battery when it first started. Now that it's mapped it can clean my whole house on one charge.

Our i7 started curving to the right when vacuuming instead of going in straight lines. I've wiped all the sensors and checked for debris. Any suggestions?
Diane Carter - Responder
Error message: there is a sealing problem with the clean base. Red light comes back on after every attempt to clear it.

My tower will not do “empty bin.” It plays the “uh-oh” tone. I’ve reset and rebooted the robot, done factory reset. Used compressed air, cleaned the sensors. I’ve also replaced the bag in the tower and checked the tower for clogs: there are none. Nothing has worked. any suggetions?

I get error 66! Ran out of storage? I only have one map with 3 clean zones… and 2 keep out zones…..

Where do I begin? My i7 decides to cancel jobs on its own, gets “stuck" in the middle of a room with nothing around it, runs the battery so low it can't make it back to its base, and tonight was the kicker when it was “blocked" while sitting on it's own freaking base! Customer service is absolutely no help. I've reset the unit several times and it can't even complete a single mission to create my map. Never again will I buy a roomba!

Does anyone know what error 47 means? The clean button is constantly blinking before the white ring just spins and spins. The iRobot app does detect the Roomba but than it cannot connect. Tried factory resets, and fully clean to see if anything was stuck internally. No idea. Anyone have any ideas?

I just get empty the bin error every day every time, bin is not full ever. I hate this machine, I bought my last one on 2012 which just died and it ran rings around this silly thing. So over it. Anyone have any ideas

Why does my i6 roomba not return to dock and automatically empty bin? The bag in station is empty. The roomba stopped in the middle of its cleaning my living room. Red light was flashing.
Also, can I program this roomba to automatically come on each day without WiFi?
A troubleshooting guide did not come with this roomba. Finding this information online is not easy for me.

Does the red light on the base stay on continuously until the bag is replaced. My bag was full and I have to order more. While it doesn’t have a bag in , will the red light stay on?

My I7 keeps getting itself lost. I put it back on the charging station. I do I get it to resume a job, rather than it staring over again. I have some floors which have been vacuumed several times and other desperately needing cleaning. I rebooted the machine a while back and it still hasn’t finished mapping!!!!

My irobot i7 has been good until it started , run about 6 feet then stop, giving error 26, 21 and 16 ! We have changed brushes filter and cleaned it and it still runs the same 6 ft then stop . I have rebooted it with the same results. It has lost it's memory, I have lost the map and cannot log back into my account, the tech said that I have 2 accounts 1is cdweeks70@yahoo.com and the other one is cdweeks701@yahoo.com . I don't know where the cdweeks701@yahoo.com came from but I can't get in to my account to delete the 2nd one . The tech said I just need to buy a new one , but I'm on a fixed income and cannot afford to buy a new one ! Please help

The i7+ is not charging. The charging station light will not come on. I tried to reboot it and the light does not appear around the clean button.
I also just installed a new battery.
Gary Jeffers - Responder
Gary, Ours is doing same, you get any resolution? I also put new battery in. Of course cleaned contacts/ rebooted etc. I took all apart to ensure there were no loose connections to charging contacts. All looks good and have 20vdc at contacts so it looks like it’s something in the vac it self not allowing it to charge.

Just purchased a J7+, replacing a 960. So far after using it three times, it does a great job cleaning but gets stuck each time on the bottom of my kitchen bar stools. They are on a slant. It’s very aggravating to come home to find the job not completed. With the 960 I used two virtual barriers but they don’t seem to work with this new unit. I hope I don’t have to send it back. Thanks for any help. Email at doc.stewart-AT-gmail.com. Replace the AT with a @. Thanks.

Just bought it. No lights. No charging. Checked everything including made sure it had a battery and made sure it was on the metal charging posts…. Nothing is happening! Is this the norm for the first time it goes on the home base? How many hours before I see a light or something? Been 20 minutes and nothing so far.

Bought J7 January 3, 2022. It has done great till this week. I went through all the trouble shooting to try to get the battery to charge with not luck. Any suggestions?

My roomba i7+ has the white light spinning and every so often it will blink white…. It won’t let me reboot, I took out the battery and tried to factory reset. I tried pressing all three buttons, the clean button, and nothing happens. The white wheel light keeps spinning. it’s not talking, beeping or anything.. Just the white light. Any thoughts???

Why is the light always coming on randomly throughout the day while it is docked? Is this normal? I have my iRobot i7 now since 2019 and don't remember it doing this???
aljimenez - Responder
When the unit is docked, the light ring flashes on frequently for a couple seconds then goes off again. This is a repetitive behavior, is this common to the i7? Is there something causing this?

Question my roomba keeps saying unable to start reinstall bin over and over have done reboot, factory reset , cleaned the sensors…is there a diagnostic mode? Also I replaced a new filter.

Our i7 has been stuck in a software update for two months!!!! I've tried everything!! Reboot...nothing! Take out the battery...nothing! Let it loose all battery power and then recharge...nothing and nothing! Move it closer to the wifi signal....nothing! Hold all possible configurations of buttons for 20 seconds....nothing! Most expensive paperweight I've ever purchased!! Our old Roomba we bought in 2019 is still going like a champ. More tech does not equal more useful

I agree with those who say the i7+ is nothing but problems. Constantly giving me error messages or just plain stopping in the middle of a cleaning job. I have an old iRobot - probably 5 years old that does a much better job. It has a brush roller and a rubber roller instead of those two stupid rubber rollers. As an experiment, I let the i7+ clean an area and then I ran my older machine over the same area and it picked up so much dirt that the i7+ left. So sorry I purchased this machine - a waste of money!

My i7 has developed severe brain damage, goes back and forth and in circles, will not go where I asked it to clean. and then will stop in the middle of nowhere, I was beginning to think I had Megan in my home. because She actually traveled in the middle of the night and ran put of power in the middle of nowhere. I tried rebooting it, called Irobot for techical support, they told me it was irrepairable and wanted to give me a 100.00 credit. oh hell naw! I paid well over 550.00 for this vacuum and I will not accept 100.00 for more problems, I then realized I have am extended warranty on this thing, I found it and its through Asurion, and they are a joke, I sent them the case number from Irobot and they insisted that I had to send it in to them to see if they can repair it. now its not enroute to them to see what they are going to do. I'm pretty sure they'll either send it back doing the same thing or send me a refurbished item someone else had issues with. I will keep you posted.

Question...My i7 is fully charged and the bin is empty but the white light started spinning clockwise in the evening and was still spinning in the morning. I'm thinking the update should be complete. When I select empty the bin nothing happens. When I select a room to clean it just sits there with the light continuing to spin. What do I do?

I have new internet in the home and I can not get it to work. I see it suggests 2.4 I have 2.4, 5.0 and 5.7 and none seem to work. What am I missing? Thank you! (it seems to be charging fine)

I have cleaned my i7 but it continues to do error2 after replacing the brushes. I think it could be a faulty battery, not oem brushes, or it needs a new cleaning head any advise?

I am having the same issue with a faulty motor. It has been changed twice in the past year. I’ve also contacted the BBB and reported the issue. I will never recommend this product. It lasted a total of 1 year with normal use.

How the hell are you supposed to restart the robot if it won’t charge. Obviously it’s dead. 😂

My i7 cleans everywhere except where I programmed it to clean. I'm wondering if I accidently told it to clean everywhere. If so, how to I clear the programming that is in there and start over?

My i7 has been a wonderful machine, until recently. It won't dock. It finds the the dock and climbs onto the dock, but won't stop and dock. I've changed out the IR/confined space sensor on top of the machine, cleaned the home base windows, reset the machine several times. No dock. Suggestions?, Help!
