The Headphones/Speakers Will Not Play Music When Plugged in
When you plug in any audio device, the computer does not register it and music cannot be played.
The Headphones/Speakers Are Not Plugged in Properly
Try taking out and re-plugging in the headphone jack. Make sure that you are plugging it into the jack that has the headphone icon next to it.
The Sound Is Off on the Computer
Check to make sure that the sound is turned up on your laptop, and that it is not on mute.
The Headphones/Speaker Cord Is Broken
Try using a different headphones/speaker to see if the problem is with your computer or the headphones/speaker. You can also check this by plugging the headphones/speaker into a different computer.
The Audio Driver Is Out of Date and Needs Updating
This means that you need to uninstall your current drivers and install new ones.
- Go to the Device Manager. You can do this by simultaneously pressing the windows logo key and the x key. Click “Device Manager” on the list that pops up.
- Find “Display Adapters” and click on it.
- You should see some combination of these: Intel, AMD, Nvidia.
- Right click on one of these drivers and click uninstall.
- Check the box for “Delete driver software” on the pop up that is displayed.
- Restart the system and go to “Display Adapters” again.
- Try uninstalling the driver again. If the pop up asking to delete the software box pops up again, try starting again from step 4 until this pop us stops showing up.
- If the pop up no longer shows up, restart your computer and go to the ++Lenovo Support Website++ to reinstall the drivers.
- Restart your computer one last time and check if the audio works.

The USB Port Is Unresponsive
When you plug in a USB cord, the computer does not recognize that something has been plugged in.
The USB Port Contains Dust or Debris
Check in the USB port to see if anything is stuck in it. If you see something large, turn your computer off and gently use a plastic or wooden toothpick to remove it. If there seems to be a collection of dust or smaller debris, use canned air to blow it out of the port.
The Device/Cord that You are Plugging into the USB Port Is Broken
Try using a different device and/or cord to see if the problem is with your computer or with the device/cord itself. You can also check this by plugging the device/cord into a different computer.

Try plugging your computer into a different outlet to see if the problem is with your computer or simply with the outlet.

The Power Jack Is Physically Broken

When you are using the device, it shuts down after getting hot.

Check to make sure that nothing is covering the fan. Blocking the device’s air flow can prevent the device from cooling down, leading to overheating.

Use a dust removal spray to carefully clean out the vent. Dust can block the device’s air flow, which can leader to overheating.

Wipe off your touchpad with rubbing alcohol and a tissue to remove any build-up of dirt.
