Identification & Background
The different generation of wheelchair produced by Free Wheelchair Mission, have some unique traits that allow for easy identification. The GEN_2 has three major difference from the GEN_1. The first difference is the GEN_2 has a black cushioned seat back. The second difference is the GEN_2 has a light blue metal frame. Lastly, the GEN_2 has two separate foot rests that are both independently adjustable. If this does not describe your Free Mission Wheelchair then you may have the GEN_1 version of the wheelchair.
The GEN_2 received FDA approval on June 28, 2012. The GEN_2 is the newest generation of wheelchairs from Free Wheelchair Mission, and was created to be more adaptable than the GEN_1 chair. It comes in many different sizes and is ideal for children with special medial needs. Although the GEN_2 is the new generation of the GEN_1, they will not replace the GEN_1 but will instead complement the current GEN_1 production and distribution.
